HILY has partnered with an animal shelter in Austin, Texas to try and find forever homes for cats and dogs in the city.
The ‘It’s A Petch!’ campaign will run throughout the month of August and is looking to rehome animals from the ‘Austin Pets Alive!’ (APA) organisation. Summer is typically a busy time for animal shelters and the promotion is designed to prevent them from reaching full capacity.
Profiles have been created for 15 animals and are displayed within the app’s stack like regular HILY members. They contain numerous pictures as well as a short introduction.
If a user swipes right on one of the profiles they will be connected with a member of staff from APA so they can find out more information about the adoption process. It’s hoped that while every match won’t lead to an adoption, the overall initiative will raise awareness of the growing issue.
A spokesperson from HILY said in the press release: “HILY’s always been dedicated to helping people find their significant other and beat loneliness once and for all.
“We hope that the ‘It’s A Petch!’ initiative will help our users find loving and trustworthy pet friends that will make their dating journey more enjoyable. We are honoured to be a trusted partner of Austin Pets Alive! in their important and noble mission.”
The campaign is currently only available in Austin, but HILY is considering partnering with shelters in other cities in the near future.
A OnePoll survey at the beginning of 2020 found that US daters are 40% more likely to swipe right on a profile if it contains a picture of a dog.
