Niche Dating Apps
Pasykov also points out that looking across the industry, it’s clear that increasingly dating apps are targeting segmented / niche demographics. This can include niche communities like anti-vaxxers, or people looking for specific experiences like casual encounters.
However, he highlights business-wise, “when apps focus on specific audiences, like people looking for hookups, users are likely to switch to other dating apps that serve more needs than such nuanced experiences”.
Finding Success in the Future
Pasykov highlights a significant dilemma in the online dating industry: dating apps run on business models that require users to stay on the app as long as possible. However, the route to long-term success is shortening the time between liking a potential match and meeting them.
“In this regard, niche apps catering to specific audiences or needs, are leading the way”, Pasykov shares.
