Hinge Introduces ‘What Works Guides’ to Help Create Better Daters
Hinge has launched the ‘What Works Guides’, an in-app tool that helps users navigate the journey from a first match to a long-term relationship.
It was created by the company’s internal research team ‘Hinge Labs’, which claims it is revealing the “secret formula of successful daters”. They spent months conducting comprehensive analysis into the key steps of dating.
The result is the ‘What Works Guides’ which features tips for every stage of the process, such as how to make a perfect profile and when to take the connection to the next level.
Hinge has published six of the best bits of advice that should help singles land a date. When setting up their profile they should pick photos that clearly show their face, avoid one-word answers for their ‘Prompts’, and always be specific about their personality and what relationship they’re looking for.
Users are also encouraged to send comments rather than likes, which means sending a message that relates to something on the other person’s profile. According to Hinge Labs, 71% of users have more success when sending a comment, because the extra effort helps them stand out.
It’s also important to keep the conversation fresh by asking follow up questions and not being afraid to switch topics if the current one is going stale. This will prevent ghosting and help both parties get to know each other better.
Finally, transitioning from the app to another messaging platform helps to keep the momentum going. There’s also always the option of a video date before committing to meeting in person.
Hinge Labs’ first piece of research looked into how the perceptions around virtual dating changed in the first few months of the pandemic. People used to have a lot of concerns about the practice, but once it became a necessity the overwhelming majority found it less awkward as they first thought.
