Interview: Rekindle Opens Pre-Seed Funding Round

GDI: Can you tell us about Rekindle? What makes the platform unique?
Abhishek: The insight behind Rekindle’s conception was addressing a unique cultural nuisance, where certain cultures in the East, especially in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East, don’t traditionally embrace dating for divorced, separated, and widowed individuals.
We believe that the stigma associated with our users is something that needs to be addressed, and creating a safe, judgment-free platform is the need of the hour. Hence, Rekindle was born to solve for loneliness and provide companionship for previously married individuals.:
This is the first-of-its-kind platform evolving from India for our global diaspora. Our matchmaking also intends to connect users on deep levels, emphasizing meaningful connections over mindless swiping.

GDI: What is the platform’s current status?
Abhishek: After conducting multiple user interviews in India and US, we launched the MVP version and bootstrapped it to 10,000 Active users and 1,000 paid users. We are now looking to raise our first set of Angel / pre-seed rounds.
GDI: Can you tell us about the objectives of your first Pre Seed investment round? What will this funding go towards?
Abhishek: The majority of the budget will be allocated to Customer Acquisition, encompassing both digital and offline channels, as well as Branding Activities such as podcasts, events, community workshops, and brand integrations.
We have devised an idea for matchmaking based on the “3-question rule,” which we will incorporate into our product. This approach aims to foster deeper connections, providing a significant number of people with a fighting chance at meaningful connections.
GDI: What do you see as some targets or next steps you’re looking to achieve with Rekindle?
Abhishek: The first step is to create a 100k user base in India within 3 months. Given the significant interest from our Indian consumers abroad, we plan to launch in the US and UK shortly thereafter.
Through our ongoing commitment to product innovation and branding activities, we are confident in our ability to address the social stigma prevalent in the entire Eastern culture. Our goal is to establish a meaningful community that openly discusses loneliness and companionship.
