Fordham University was the winning school in Tinder’s 2019 Swipe Off competition. Students there were rewarded with an exclusive concert from rapper Juice WRLD on 24th April.
The contest was launched at the end of March to encourage students to sign up for Tinder U and swipe as much as possible in order to win the free event.
Stanford University, Cornell University and the University of California also made the final four round, before they were beaten out by the New York-based school.
Juice WRLD, famed for his songs Lucid Dreams and All Girls Are The Same, performed at the New York Expo Center, before pop star Charli XCX closed the show as a special guest.
Tinder’s Senior Marketing Director Lauren Probyn told The Observer: “At Tinder, we love giving back to our users and providing them with unforgettable experiences.
“Juice WRLD and Charli XCX are very popular among college students with some great chart-topping hits. So when we created the second Swipe Off, we knew they were the perfect people to perform.”
A total of 500 free tickets were available to users who had swiped right on a branded profile in the app, although estimates suggest that there were only 300 people in attendance.
Free merchandise was handed out to the students, which included hats, shirts and foam fingers.
The first Swipe Off competition was held in collaboration with Cardi B last year and the University of Massachusetts Amherst ended up as winners.
