The Match Group has just announced it has hired a new VP of Public Affairs.
The dating company has hired political and media strategist Matt David as its new Vice President of Public Affairs.
David’s responsibilities will include media relations, corporate communications, policy initiatives and marketing and PR strategy.
Prior to joining the dating giant, David was a managing partner at LA marketing firm Outside Eyes.
David also previously worked on the presidential campaigns of President Bush, Senator McCain, Governor Huntsman and Governor Kasich.
Speaking about his new role, David said: “Match Group is the leading global platform in a growing space that bridges technology and human connection, and I could not be more thrilled to join the team.
“The depth and breadth of the Match Group portfolio is impressive, and I am eager to begin working with the talented team Greg has amassed.”
David has already started the new role, and is based in Los Angeles.
Speaking about the hire, Match Group Chairman & CEO Greg Blatt said:
“Matt’s diverse experiences in both the political and business arena make him an ideal leader for a global company like Match Group.
“As we continue to grow our brands and provide innovative products for consumers, his blend of strategy, media and policy skills are invaluable. I’ve no doubt he will elevate our game meaningfully in this important area.”
Earlier this year, The Match Group released its big first quarter financial results for 2016, beating all revenue expectations with a 21% increase, figures hitting $285.3m for the year’s first quarter.
The company also revealed that 1m people around the world are now paying for Tinder, and said it expects this number to double by the end of 2016.
