OkCupid Tests ChatGPT-Generated Questions
Dating platform OkCupid is experimenting with in-app questions generated by ChatGPT, an AI tool that has become a viral sensation.
OkCupid puts forward a number of matching questions for users to help create compatible connections and gather insights about dating trends. The AI created six questions including:
- How do you know when to take a relationship to the next level?
- Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?
- How do you balance your own needs with the needs of your partner in a relationship?
“Daters who think ChatGPT is a life saver get almost 40 percent more Matches on OkCupid than those who think it’s too big brother, so we decided to leverage ChatGPT to draft our famous in-app matching questions that power our algorithm,” Michael Kaye, global head of communications at OkCupid told Mashable.
The AI-generated questions have been answered by users more than 125,000 times already.
Looking into the trend where AI tools help create user profiles and suggest potential messages to send, OkCupid found that 31% of Gen Z daters don’t think that using AI to create a profile or message others on dating apps is a violation of trust.
However, the majority of OkCupid users regard the use of AI on profile photos as a turn off, with 43% unsure.
47% were also unsure whether or not to continue seeing someone who admitted to first messaging using an AI programme. 34% percent said they wouldn’t continue the relationship, and 18% said they would.
