French dating app Once had an excellent 2016.
In June, the curated mobile dating service raised another $5.5m in funding, taking its total investment to $9m, as Once hit the 2m user milestone.
The dating app brings a human element to the online dating equation by hiring real matchmakers to help choose users’ daily matches.
We recently visited Once’s offices at Exmouth House, London, to chat with CMO Eva Peris about the company’s human approach to online dating and the growth it saw in 2016.
Peris speaks about Once’s matchmakers, which total over 170, how they complement Once’s technology and algorithm, and how the startup has distinguished itself in the busy online dating space as it approaches profitability.
