Parship Group CEO Talks eharmony Acquisition

Tim Schiffers, the CEO at Parship Group, has given some thoughts on the acquisition of industry giant eharmony.

In a blog post, he explained how the success of brands Parship and ElitePartner across BENELUX and German-speaking territories helped the firm to become a market leader in Europe.

He describes the latest purchase as a move towards “internationalization”, enabling Parship Group to enter the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Schiffers wrote: “For us, the acquisition of eharmony is a perfect match. eharmony is considered the icon of online dating and established the market in the US back in 2000.

“Only a short time later, Parship introduced matchmaking dating in Germany and Europe.

“With the acquisition of eharmony, a German online company succeeds for the first time in taking over its American role model. This fills us with pride!”

In 2018, the Financial Times reported that the deal to buy 100% of eharmony was worth around $85 million.

Last month, researchers from eharmony published findings suggesting the majority of new babies could be born from online relationships by 2037.

Speaking about the results, eharmony’s Head of Marketing Romain Bertrand said in a statement: “It’s very positive to see that online dating is set to continue opening doors for singles into the future.
