Playdate Announces £1.5m Seed Round
Playdate, the dating app for single parents, has announced that it is raising £1.5 million in a new Seed Round in order to enable further scaling & geographical expansion. The platform successfully raised £440,000 in Pre-Seed funding in early 2023.
The dating app has had a positive past 12 months, seeing 5x user growth, launching an updated product version, and bringing on board a former Bumble Product Manager. Playdate’s founder & CEO, Nevine Coutry, was featured in GDI’s 2024 Power Book.
In February 2023, Playdate completed its first external fundraising round, raising £440,000 in Pre-Seed funding from 1 VC and 3 angel investors.
To continue its mission of connecting single parents, Playdate will use the funding from its £1.5 million round for further expansion across the UK and into the US later this year. The platform highlights that there are 320 million single parents across the globe, a significant target demographic for the app.
The platform looks to provide a solution for single parents who want to find romance with compatible intentional partners. The platform is partnered with the UK’s leading nanny and sitter app to seamlessly help parents find childcare for date nights, for example.
