Second ‘Swipe Hype’ Event to Discuss Dating Apps and Polyamory

The second edition of ‘The Swipe Hype’ – an event series looking to dissect modern dating culture – is coming to Shoreditch on the 2nd of February.

The discussion platform is curated and co-hosted by Bombom (Salonee Gadgil of Creative Review magazine) and Lola Blackheart (Amber Bednall of artist collective Acrylicize).

Episodes bring together speakers from across the dating world, with each giving a unique perspective on the relationship trends they see unfolding.

Speakers are chosen either because they have special expertise or because their personal experiences are stories which the audience could learn from.

The second episode will cover gender constructs with trans activist Charlie Craggs. Craggs will talk about dating as a trans girl.

It also looks into dating and polyamory with Xan Pedisich. The discussion will cover the role of dating apps in the polyamorous community.

Benno Spencer of typedatingapp will also join the discussion to talk about the development of his platform.

The first sellout show took place on October 6th. It involved a “Tinderella” speaker who travelled across the world to marry her match.

The hosts welcome “experienced swipers, sceptics that reluctantly dabble in dating and even those who have never used dating apps but are itching to know what the fuss is about”

Tickets to Episode 2 can be found here.

(2 Feb 2017, Studio 7 Shoreditch, 7 to 8:30 p.m.)
