Singles Return To ‘Veganuary’ 2022
Veganuary 2022 is set to break records for the number of people going plant-based for the month of January.
Research from Veganuary shows that sign ups have increased by 200% over the last three years, and dating app Inner Circle have said it’s ‘no surprise that people are also looking at what this means for their love lives’.
“As we kick off the new year and after months of restrictions interrupting our dating lives, singles are keen to understand more about their dates and get to know like-minded people. Whether this is views on climate change, morals or health habits.”
Further research, conducted by Inner Circle, found that in-app mentions of the terms ‘vegan’, ‘veganism’ and ‘plant-based’ have increased by 40% on average this year compared to last, as singles chat to prospective dates about their views.
Similarly, there’s a been a 36% increase in people saying that they’re vegan in their dating app bio. Recent research by the dating app also found that people who include the phrase ‘no vegans’ in their bio get over a quarter (27%) fewer matches than the average user.
Inner Circle’s resident dating expert, Charly Lester, said, “In 2021 we saw a return to simpler pleasures such as walks in the park and other outdoor activities dominating the dating scene. There has also been an increase in people engaging in more eco-friendly dates, with plant-based eating being a huge trend in this space. This year, we predict a rise in dating habits which contribute more positively to our world – as well as people seeking out others who share their values. Veganuary could be the perfect time to take part in this dating for good movement.”
