Snapchat Launches New Feature for Advertisers to Sell Directly Through Lenses

Snapchat

Snapchat has recently announced its new feature: Shoppable AR.

This brand new feature enables advertisers to sell their goods through their sponsored lenses.

The addition has been built on top of the sponsored lenses, which launched back in 2015. It lets advertisers create their own branded filters.

Shoppable AR means advertisers are able to add a button directly to a Lens, which users are then able to tap to visit a website. They can browse or buy the products from within the Snapchat app.

Advertisers can also include a link to an app or a video, both of which will also display in-app.

Advertisers do not need to pay any more for the feature.

According to TechCrunch, the ability of advertisers to offer their products from within the Snapchat interface reduces the friction of sales. Users do not feel like their are being advertised to to the same extent as with classic ads.

According to Snap, 70 million users engage with Lenses everyday.
