Global Dating Insights Founder Simon Corbett is taking part in a webinar presented by content moderation experts Spectrum this week. The session will cover the steps dating platforms should be taking to keep their users safe, both online and in real life.
The conversation, titled “Swipe Right, Stay Safe: How Dating Apps Keep Members Safe Online and IRL”, will also be featuring Spectrum’s Head of Product Katie Zigelman and Lucia Stacey, the VP of Community at Hinge.
Anyone wanting to listen in to the webinar can register for free before it begins on Thursday, 14th November at 8am PST (4pm GMT).
Simon Corbett said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in ‘Swipe Right, Stay Safe’ because user protection is such a hot topic in the online dating industry right now.
“As the number of singles using their phones to find love increases, so, unfortunately, does the number of people looking to take advantage of them.
“We have collaborated with Spectrum before, and they continue to do fantastic work helping companies to look after their members.”
Hinge is committed to ensuring that users have a positive experience whilst on the app. Its recent ‘Designed to be Deleted’ rebrand and accompanying marketing campaign emphasised its desire to optimise for lasting relationships rather than engagement.
Speaking to GDI in June, Spectrum CEO Justin Davis gave his take on dating safety: “The Internet is one of the most important technologies the world has ever seen. But we’re not doing enough to protect people and mitigate the risk posed by bad actors which inevitably appear in every community, not just on dating apps.
“I can’t think of anything more urgent and personal to build: a product that helps our customers’ protect people and their privacy; and a coalition of partners & executives that are looking to defend their communities.”
