InPress Tests News-Based Date Matching Approach
A new dating app called InPress has launched in Washington, D.C., offering a unique approach to connecting people. Created by Air Force veteran Adam Harder, InPress differentiates itself from traditional dating platforms by focusing on shared interests in news topics.
nPress operates like a news aggregator, similar to Google News or Apple News, but with a twist: it uses users’ interactions with news stories to drive connections. The app asks users to select the types of relationships they are interested in, whether it’s dating, friendship, or both. Matching is then based on how users engage with various news topics within the app.
Harder’s background in journalism, combined with his military experience, inspired him to create a platform that promotes media literacy and encourages thoughtful discussion. The app avoids political labels, instead allowing users to bond over more neutral and interest-based topics like local events or hobbies, such as visits to the 9:30 Club or paddleboarding.
Currently, InPress is available by invitation only, with plans to open to the public on October 3rd. The app’s design reflects Harder’s belief that meaningful connections are built on shared experiences and perspectives, rather than superficial factors.
