Dating App Downloads Hit Record Levels, Cheating Concerns Rise

Dating app downloads have continued their upward trajectory into 2026, building on strong growth from late 2025. Tinder remained the most downloaded dating app globally, while Hinge reported particularly strong user growth in the first quarter of the year.

The global dating app market has shown resilience despite periodic user fatigue reports. Industry estimates place the number of dating app users worldwide at around 350 million, with the sector generating over $6 billion in revenue in 2025. Tinder consistently leads in downloads, followed by Bumble and Hinge, which has seen notable gains in recent period.

However, the data has also hinted at an unexpectedly complex dynamic in the dating app industry: while platforms continue to attract record numbers of users seeking connection, the same accessibility appears to be fueling suspicion and monitoring behaviors among those already in relationships. Namely, this surge in app usage has coincided with increased concerns about infidelity. Traditional statistics indicate that approximately 20% of married men and 13% of married women report having cheated at some point.

Tools designed to detect hidden dating profiles have also seen increased activity. Services like CheaterScanner, which scan multiple platforms for active accounts, report growing demand as more people seek to verify their partners’ online activity. While specific internal figures vary, the correlation between rising app downloads and higher scan volumes is a clear one.

Several factors contribute to this trend. Creating a profile takes only minutes on most apps, and features like location spoofing make it easier to maintain discreet activity. Younger adults, in particular, have cited easy digital access as increasing temptation in relationships.
