Three Day Rule: Single Moms Increasingly Reentering Dating Scene
Single mothers are showing renewed interest in dating, according to data from matchmaking service Three Day Rule. The company reported a 23% increase in sign-ups from single moms since 2024. In 2025, single moms accounted for 19.8% of its users, rising to 21.5% in 2026.
Erika Kaplan, Vice President of Membership at Three Day Rule, described a trend called “family-supported dating.” Many single moms are receiving encouragement from their children and practical help from family members, such as childcare support. This assistance is making it more feasible for them to prioritize personal relationships after focusing primarily on parenting.
Kaplan noted that single moms often wait until their children are older and more independent before reentering the dating world. With greater family backing, they can approach dating with more intentionality and optimism. The support helps reduce barriers and allows moms to build an identity beyond parenting.
The development reflects broader changes in how single parents view dating. While challenges like time constraints, childcare, and introducing new partners to children remain, increased family involvement appears to be easing some of these difficulties. Many single moms are seeking fulfillment outside of their parental role, viewing dating as a way to address emotional needs that may have been sidelined.
