Wippy Dating App Sees Earnings Growth by Korea-Japan Matches
Enlize, the operator of South Korean dating app Wippy, reported a significant increase in profitability for 2024, largely due to growing demand in Japan and rising cross-border matches between Korean and Japanese users.
The company posted an operating profit of 1.82 billion won ($1.3 million) in 2024, marking a 231% increase from the previous year. This represents the second consecutive year of positive earnings for Enlize.
Wippy launched in Japan in the second half of 2024 and introduced a dedicated Korea-Japan matching feature in October. Since then, the app has accumulated 320,000 users across both countries. Cross-border matches have been notably active, with pairings between Korean men and Japanese women occurring 2.2 times more frequently than the reverse.
The trend reflects broader demographic patterns. Official data shows that marriages between Korean men and Japanese women reached their highest level since 2015 in 2025.Wippy has remained the top revenue-generating dating app in South Korea for six consecutive years. Its user base continues to be dominated by people aged 25–34, who make up more than 65% of active users.
Enlize attributed the improved financial performance to successful overseas expansion and better monetization of cross-border activity. CEO Kim Bong-ki stated that the company plans to further capitalize on international opportunities and strengthen its presence in overseas markets. The growth of Wippy highlights how regional cultural interest and demographic factors can drive meaningful business expansion for dating platforms beyond their home markets.
