#GDI12Days 2016, March: ‘Badoo Is First Dating App To Hit 100m Downloads On Android’

Badoo has just revealed it is the first dating app to hit 100m downloads on Android.

The London-based company today announced it had hit the milestone, calling itself the fastest-growing dating platform in the world.

Other companies that have also hit the 100m mark on Android include Snapchat, Spotify, Twitter and WhatsApp.

Badoo even made specific mention to its main competitor, Tinder, saying they were amongst companies like Uber and Pinterest that had not hit the milestone.

Speaking about the landmark, the new President of Badoo, Alexandra Chong, said: “We’re really excited about today’s milestone.

“With 10 years of existence, Badoo has the industry’s deepest insights and experience, and knows how to use this wealth of information to create a fantastic user experience and sustain incredible growth and momentum.”

Chong joined Badoo earlier this year, after the online dating giant acquired the controversial male-rating app Lulu, which the Canadian founded in 2011.

With the acquisition, Chong became the President of Badoo, focusing on international expansion, business development and communications.

And with the February deal, Lulu had a complete revamp – replacing its former male-rating focus, and becoming more of a straightforward dating app.

Lulu has now essentially been integrated with Badoo, letting its 6m users connect with Badoo’s massive user base, as Lulu begins to bring in revenue.
