Name: Liz Spornick
Position & Company: Social Media Manager, WeLoveDates.com
Period of time in the role: 4 years
Twitter ID: @welovedates/@sociallizm

Can you describe your role and what you do in one sentence?

I manage all content creation for WeLoveDates.com, the award-winning WeLoveDates blog, all of our digital marketing campaigns and I am the voice behind all of the WLD social media accounts.

Tell us a little about your company.

WeLoveDates is a worldwide online dating site, we run off of the WhiteLabelDating platform and have members in the UK, US, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Our popular WeLoveDates blog is well known for being a consistent source of cutting edge online dating advice and tips.

What is your personal style in business in three words?

Creative. Determined. Flexible.

How did you get into the online dating industry?

While working as a PR exec in the fashion industry, I began writing about my experiences online dating on my now defunct popular fashion blog. Based on the overwhelming response those early blog posts garnered, I began contributing to WeLoveDates, growing the blog from its early stages to what it is today.  I’ve since married someone I met online and have completely immersed myself in the online dating industry, merging my marketing and public relations background with my passion to help others find love.

What are you most proud of in your role?

I’m very proud of how WeLoveDates has established itself as a brand and how we’ve become a top resource of dating advice on the web. We consistently provide creative content that other dating sites don’t, meaning that many times other well established online dating sites will come to us looking for content to share, which is always nice!

We Love Dates

What are the biggest challenges the industry faces?

Fake profiles, spam and lack of credibility.

What do you believe is the most exciting opportunity facing the industry?

I think that mobile apps are a huge opportunity right now, offering online dating in real time. Instant gratification!

What do you love most about the online dating industry?

The success stories, I’m a sucker for a happy ending, and knowing we’ve made a difference in our members’ lives is very rewarding. I never think of our members as numbers, there is a personal story behind each membership that is purchased, and I wish I could hear them all.

Which service or company do you admire in the online dating industry?

Tinder is an awesome app just because its so simple (keeping it simple works!) and eHarmony continues to impress me with its consistent brand integrity and customer loyalty.

What sets your company apart from others in the industry?

We make it easy! We offer over 100 niche sites in 7 countries, as well as dating guides to over 100 cities throughout the world and counting — from London, to LA, to Sydney! Not only can our members immediately connect with someone they’d like to date, they can also find the right place to go on the date. We also provide a personal approach – my team and I are always available to answer any last minute dating questions (and we get some quite interesting ones!) which is something I think our members really value.

What does the rest of 2013 hold for your company?

We are expanding our city based dating guides even further, publishing some exciting and cutting edge creative campaigns and are focused on growing our membership database, in the UK and beyond. It’s going to be a busy few months!
