Coffee Meets Bagel CEO Gives Life Hacks in Latest Interview

Coffee Meets Bagel CEO Dawoon Kang has interviewed with technology and software news company Lifehacker, to discuss the day-to-day running of her business and offer advice to the next generation of entrepreneurs.

She explained that she created the app with the help of her two sisters to tackle the issue of gender imbalance on online dating platforms. They saw men getting frustrated due to the lack of responses, which in turn could have caused them to show signs of bad behaviour.

Kang now focuses on promoting “safety and equality”, and she also encourages employees to prioritise values of “ownership, accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and candor”.

The team is currently paying close attention to streamlining the app’s premium subscription services, after user feedback suggested there is room for improvement.

When asked about what her biggest life hack is, Kang said she puts everything in a calendar and follows it exactly to organise, prioritise and prevent procrastination.

Her best dating advice is to write down exactly what you are looking for in a partner and then try to become that person, because she believes humans are attracted to people that are just like them. She famously met her current partner on Coffee Meets Bagel.

She concluded the interview by saying: “I’m still trying to ensure that all singles out there get to experience connections that inspire them!

“I think what’s so powerful about human connections is that they can empower you to reach outside of yourself: to grow, to discover, to learn, to be more than what you thought was possible. It’s an amazing feeling, and I want this for everyone in the world”.

Dawoon Kang was included in the GDI Power Book 2019 for leading Coffee Meets Bagel through one of its most impressive years to date.
