Hinge Launches ‘Relationship Type’ Feature

Hinge has launched a new feature enabling users to share what type of relationship they’re looking for, whether it’s monogamous, non-monogamous, or still figuring it out.

The update looks to help users express their desires more clearly, reducing the number of unsuitable matches that are made. The feature is optional, TechCrunch reports.

“Hinge is the place for all daters to find intentional and meaningful romantic connections, and I want it to enter a new era of dating where the word ‘relationship’ defies traditional and heteronormative meaning,” said Michelle Parsons, Hinge’s Chief Product Officer.

“With the launch of Relationship Types, we are empowering users to openly share what kind of relationship they are looking for, and as a result, have a new way to know if someone’s dating goals match theirs from the moment they look at their profile”, she shares.

Reports show that one in five Hinge users would consider an open relationship, with one in ten already having tried these non-monogamous connections.
