International Attention for CLiKD’s ‘Love in London’ Campaign
The CLiKD and PhotoVoice Love in London photo competition and campaign has received international attention following the announcement the winning entry, ‘Snuggles’.
Snuggles, submitted by part-time teacher Scott Hamilton, shows a gay couple cuddling on a sofa.
Winq.com in The Netherlands writes “This picture will soon be everywhere in London”, while Queer.de in Germany ran the headline “Gay love for the whole of London”.
Queer.pl in Poland also picked up on the story, as did Gay.it in Italy.
Eikon, a gay community magazine in New Zealand and Australia, covered the story under the title “Snuggling Gay Couple Win British Photo Contest”. OutinPerth.com called the photo “charming”.
Inmagazine.ca in Canada notes that the photo was taken using a self-timer, and that it was “aptly titled”.
Hamilton said: “Photography is a passion of mine, so it’s really great to get this recognition, and I’m really looking forward to seeing my pictures shared with everyone across the capital.
“I hope that people get the same feeling of comfort and joy out of this picture that I have each time I see it.”
PhotoVoice CEO, Tom Elkins commented: “Congratulations to Scott, it is a beautiful photo and a worthy winner.
“This competition has been a fantastic opportunity for photographers to tell their stories about what makes London so special for them.
“The images submitted have been moving, beautiful, thoughtful, and have shown how rich and varied culture London has.”
