Match Group Appoints First Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Match Group has created a new position on its executive team to further develop and execute its commitment towards racial and social equality across the portfolio.
Jennifer Zephirin was appointed as the company’s first Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). She will be based in the main New York City office and report directly to CEO Shar Dubey while working to ensure equality is maintained.
She previously spent just under 18 months at Uber as the Global Diversity Business Partner for Technology. That role was designed to build a strategy for inclusive recruiting, retention, and development to create a culture of belonging for employees from underrepresented groups.
Zephirin spoke about her new position in a statement and expressed admiration for her new boss. She said: “It’s all too rare an opportunity to work with a tech CEO who is a woman, much less a woman of color.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Shar and the fantastic team that’s in place to further grow and build an inclusive environment where employees can fully thrive as their true selves, and continue to create meaningful connections for millions of people around the world.”
Dubey repaid the compliments and said Zephirin would be “instrumental” in helping the online dating company continue to cultivate an inclusive workplace culture.
Match Group has a history of creating new roles as it evolves to respond to developing global and social trends. Last September, Tracey Beeden was hired as the Head of Safety and Social Advocacy, a position which oversees the development of new trust and safety features.
