MeetMindful Raises Seed Round Of $1.8m

MeetMindful

MeetMindful, the Denver dating service that connects people pursuing a “healthy, mindful lifestyle” has just raised $1.8m in funding.

Founded by CEO Amy Baglan, MeetMindful raised the funding in a seed round joined by investors from the worlds of mindfulness, dating, and SaaS technology.

These include Bridge Builders Collaborative, Gaia CFO Paul Tarell, Hay House CEO Reid Tracy and mindfulness teacher Tara Brach.

The round was also joined by Nelstone Ventures, a firm founded by former IAC executive Rich Nelson in 2015, which previously invested in South Asian matchmaking app Dil Mil, along with Twitch.tv, TapCommerce and Ticketbis, which were acquired by Amazon, Twitter and eBay.

MeetMindful has also received support from Techstars Mentorship-Driven Accelerator Program.

Speaking about its investment in the dating company, Bridge Builders Collaborative’s Operating Partner, Charlie Hartwell said: “At Bridge Builders Collaborative, we partner with leading companies in the global movement towards helping people live happier, less stressful lives.

“We see significant potential in MeetMindful to facilitate authentic relationships for the millions of people pursuing more mindful, healthy lifestyles.”

The service is an alternative dating site focused on the niche of mindfulness – a form of meditation with roots in Buddhist traditions that aims to get people in tune with their own body and environment.

The Denver-based company says its revenue has increased by 500% over the past 12 months, its userbase by 400%.

And with this latest seed round, MeetMindful has now raised a total of $2.7m.

MeetMindful’s CEO & founder Amy Baglan said: “Our mission is to empower mindful people to make meaningful connections every day, and we’re grateful to have the support of our investors to help us achieve this on a greater scale.”

Over the rest of 2017, the company plans to update the product with new features including an in-app game called Nicebreaks, as well as launching an Android version and in-app date coaching.

MeetMindful is available on iOS and on desktop.
