OkCupid Announces Vegan Valentine’s Day Dating Event

OkCupid has teamed up with a plant-based food company to create a virtual vegan dating event ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The dating brand and ‘Sweet Earth Foods’ are putting together an evening where singles can learn more about some of the dilemmas that face vegan daters. The ‘Veggie Lovers Virtual Dating Event’ is taking place on 10th February at 6pm EST and will be hosted by actor Chase Stokes.

All attendees are also in with a chance of winning free entry to an exclusive speed dating event for non-meat eaters.

Data from OkCupid shows that people are now more likely to be open to a vegan lifestyle. 73% of users said that they don’t care what diet their partner is on, which is an increase from 63% two years ago.

Communications and Public Relations Manager Michael Kaye explained to VegNews: “Over the past few months, singles who said they were open to dating a vegan actually received more incoming ‘likes’ and ‘matches’ compared to those who said they weren’t.

“This January, thousands of people on OkCupid even opted to participate in ‘Veganuary.’ Basically, being open to dating a vegan actually makes you more attractive in 2021.”

However, Sweet Earth Foods’ research did suggest that similar eating habits are more important in a relationship than holding the same political views.

OkCupid has also released a new range of alternative Valentine’s Day cards to offer unique and inclusive options to all users. There are cards available for all ethnicities, sexualities, genders and relationships.
