The Meet Group Announces Participation in ‘Safer Internet Day’

The Meet Group has announced it is participating in Safer Internet Day 2021 (SID), a global event that encourages all companies and individuals to think about how the online community can be more secure.

This year it’s taking place on 9th February and is hosted by ConnectSafely, a non-profit dedicated to educating users about safety and privacy.

ConnectSafely is also one of The Meet Group’s partners, helping to ensure the portfolio of dating and live streaming platforms are able to operate efficiently while looking after the best interests of the community.

Geoff Cook, CEO of The Meet Group, explained in a statement: “Member safety is at the core of everything we do at The Meet Group.

“We are committed to continuous improvement by developing new safety tools and technologies designed to protect and safeguard our communities while also partnering with industry, peers, NGOs, law enforcement, and safety-focused organizations on best practices, moderation, and education.”

As part of the build up to Safer Internet Day, Cook participated in SID’s ‘Industry Insight’ video project. These resources are for consumers to understand more about what tech companies and policy makers are doing to keep people safe on the internet and apps.

Last week The Meet Group revealed a new partnership with anti-sexual violence organisation RAINN. The pair are working together to educate users and help victims find the best possible support.
