OkCupid Introduces New Badge To Let Users Show Their Support For Planned Parenthood
OkCupid is introducing a new Planned Parenthood Badge to give singles the chance to show their support for the non-profit organisation.
The badge says “#IStandWithPP”, and is available for certain users to add to their profile.
The Planned Parenthood badge is accessible to everyone who has publicly responded “no” to the question: “Should the government defund Planned Parenthood?”.
As OkCupid explained in a blog post, over 80% of respondents have answered this way since the question was introduced.
Speaking about the partnership with Planned Parenthood, OkCupid CMO Melissa Hobley said: “OkCupid’s partnership with Planned Parenthood is really exciting because it enables us to help people connect on the issues that matter to them.
“In this current climate, this matters more than ever when it comes to finding ‘your person’.
“We know that Planned Parenthood is driving conversations, support and education that millions care about.
“When we looked at the data, we saw that our community on OkCupid was talking about Planned Parenthood, so we decided to make it easy to find the folks who cared about the same thing.”
In addition to allowing users to easily see who has similar views to them as they browse through the site, OkCupid’s algorithm will also recognise the badge and use it to promote like-minded daters to one another.
OkCupid said the badge will be available to users for one month.
Last month, OkCupid made headlines when it banned white supremacist Chris Cantwell from its platform, saying: “There is no room for hate in a place where you’re looking for love.”
