OkCupid is looking to connect Game of Thrones fans, in celebration of the eighth and final season of the fantasy television series.
All users who answered “yes” to the question asking if they watched the show will now have a special “Game of Thrones Fan” badge attached to their profile.
OKC found that Game of Thrones has over two million mentions across all in-app profiles. The online dating platform is anticipating that having the symbol will lead to 15-20% more matches.
Users can remove the badge by changing their answer to “no”, or by making the question private.
A statement from OkCupid said: “Winter is coming! And today we’re excited to announce a brand-new profile badge that will help you connect with people who share your interests and tastes — your TV taste, to be exact.
“Whether you’re House Stark or House Lannister, you can now easily match with fellow Game of Thrones fans by spotting a new Game of Thrones badge on their profile.”
The dating brand conducted a survey of its users to find out the most popular fan opinions and theories about the show.
Over a third of singles said that Hodor’s death hurt the most, while approximately three quarters are supporting Jon and Daenerys. 47% of women thought Khal Drogo and Daenerys were “ultimate couple goals”, compared to the 43% of men who chose Jon and Ygritte.
Season 8 is scheduled to premiere on HBO on 14th April 2019.
