Pinterest Releases New Promoted Video Ads

Promoted VIdeos

Pinterest has just launched a new way to advertise on the platform with Promoted Videos.

With 75% of the content Pinterest users enjoy currently coming from businesses, the site is trying to help brands continue to use the platform to further engage with their audience.

So the photo sharing platform has just released a new feature, Promoted Videos, which lets businesses upload GIF-style videos that appear in Pinterest’s collage-style feed.

As Mike Bidgoli explains: “While other platforms primarily offer video views, we’ve coupled Promoted Video with featured Pins below the video. Now the 67% of people who say videos on Pinterest inspire them to take action can experience your brand and then simply click below to do more with your products and services.

“This works great for companies like bareMinerals, who use video to demo their beauty products and feature Pins below that showcase the products used.”

Promoted Videos will start showing up this week and will be combined with the company’s pins to show Pinterest users what they offer and even encourage them to take action and purchase products through the app.

And this is likely, given that 67% of people currently say that video positively influences their purchasing decisions and 55% of users on Pinterest already use the platform to purchase goods.

Brands already using Promoted Videos include Bare Minerals, Lionsgate, Kate Spade New York and Purina and the platform has said it expects many more to follow.
