Prospr Lays Off 90% of Employees After AI Introduction

Selective dating app Prospr has laid off 90% of its workforce after artificial intelligence software was successfully implemented into the verification process.

The dating platform serves driven and ambitious professionals, and each new hopeful must be approved and verified before they are accepted into the community. This task used to be completed by employees in California and the Philippines before the AI system was introduced.

The software now automatically checks if the account information and linked social media accounts are legitimate. Further, the users confirm their profile pictures by scanning their face with the front camera on their phone.

A statement from Prospr said it “regrets” that such a substantial number of employees had to be let go, but the new system is saving the company a significant amount of money and new members are now able to have their accounts verified almost instantaneously.

Prospr has also revealed that it is planning to add AI to its content moderation process, which would handle the live reports of policy violations. This will likely lead to even more jobs being lost.

Exclusive dating service Luxy used to have its existing community approve all prospective signups. However, Head of PR Raffael Krause told GDI that the brand is working to clamp down on catfishing and scamming by bringing in tougher checks.
