The Meet Group, the umbrella to brands including Skout, MeetMe, Tagged and Growlr, has announced a partnership with a US food bank ahead of Thanksgiving.
For every food donation-themed gift sent over livestreams between 22nd and 29th November, The East Trenton Center Food Bank will receive a small donation (up to a cumulative limit of $10,000).
The initiative is similar to one organised by The Meet Group in 2018. Then, it partnered with Action Against Hunger over the Thanksgiving period.
The social entertainment company has also supported Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Ryan’s Well Foundation in the past.
The Meet Group’s Senior Accounting Manager and Food Drive Coordinator Leighanne Sadley said: “Food insecurity is a real issue for many families today. End Hunger NJ notes that 13% of New Jersey residents, or more than 1.1 million, face this epidemic.
“Our entire staff at TMG has donated for years to help consistently fill the food pantry at the East Trenton Center and we’re excited to have our users participate from all around the world this year through our apps. America has a hunger problem and we all need to do our part to help.”
Liz Leonard, Director of the East Trenton Center, added: “The Meet Group’s donations over the last two years have been received with tears and celebration.
“The company provided 13,500 items in 2018, which helped feed hundreds of people. My heart breaks for these families who have great need and when The Meet Group is so generous, I do not have to turn anyone away who is hungry.”
Earlier this month, The Meet Group was acknowledged as one of the fastest-growing businesses in North America. It ranked 424th on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500.
