Sensor Tower has released its quarterly report detailing some of the recent statistics from mobile app markets worldwide.
Global app revenue climbed by 22.9% year-on-year in Q3, taking the total spend to $21.9 billion. Apple’s iOS Store is still the leading contributor, accounting for a 65% share.
Google’s Play Store continues to be the main source of downloads, meanwhile, with 21.6 billion of 29.6 billion downloads coming from the Android service.
Tinder retained its number one position as the highest grossing non-gaming app in the world after generating $233 million over the past three months. The dating app took the top spot ahead of Netflix and YouTube.
Match Group’s Q2 financial results revealed that just over 5 million singles are signed up for premium subscriptions on Tinder.
Elsewhere, short form video app TikTok is disrupting Facebook’s monopoly on the downloads chart.
WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram are all in the top five, with TikTok breaking up the group in second place.
Earlier this month, Sensor Tower published its ranking of the most downloaded dating apps for September. Tinder topped the chart once again, followed by Badoo, Tantan, MeetMe and Happn.
