LikeBright Acquires MatchMate

Dating site LikeBright has announced the acquisition of matchmaking software company MatchMate.

LikeBright is a Seattle-based online dating and matchmaking service, which uses Facebook and other social networks to match you with friends of friends.

Nick Soman, CEO of LikeBright said: “We are pleased to welcome MatchMate and John (John Richards, co-founder of MatchMate) to the LikeBright family. 

“John is a strong entrepreneur with a wealth of relevant knowledge and connections, and the MatchMate transaction is consistent with our strategy to continue to build scale in our business.”

MatchMate was founded in Utah in 2012, and Soman hopes the acquisition will help with their plans to launch a mobile app this year.

Soman told Geekwire that they raised $1m last December, bringing their total funding to $2.25m.

He said: “I feel confident we’ll have millions of users around the world in the next year.”
