Instagram Rolls Out Tool to Replace Audio in Existing Feed Posts
Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to change the music on published feed posts and carousels without deleting and reposting the content.
The “Replace Audio” tool enables users to update the soundtrack on a post while preserving all existing likes, comments, shares, and reach. Previously, changing music required removing the original post and uploading a new version, which reset engagement metrics.
Users can access the feature by opening the post, tapping the menu in the top right corner, selecting “Edit,” and choosing the option to swap audio. The update gives creators and brands greater flexibility to align older content with current trends or personal preferences without losing accumulated interactions.
This change addresses a common limitation in content management on the platform. Creators often want to refresh posts to match evolving music trends or correct audio choices, but the previous system discouraged such updates due to the loss of engagement data.
The feature is part of Instagram’s ongoing efforts to provide more creative control to users. It follows other adjustments the company has made in response to user feedback, including the removal of an AI photo editing tool that allowed modifications to public posts. Instagram described that feature as missing the mark and discontinued it last week.
