LinkedIn Adds User Reporting Button for AI-Generated Content

LinkedIn has introduced a new reporting option that allows users to flag posts they believe are low-quality artificial-intelligence-generated content, commonly referred to as “AI slop.”

The feature, announced on Thursday by chief product officer Hari Srinivasan, appears as a “Seems like AI slop” button on posts. Feedback collected through the button will help LinkedIn refine its systems for identifying such material. Srinivasan said the company views the issue as a priority because users come to the platform to connect with real people and share authentic perspectives.

The reporting tool forms part of a wider set of measures aimed at reducing low-quality AI content. LinkedIn is expanding automated defences that currently block hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts each day and have blocked millions of other automation attempts in recent months. New classifiers are being introduced to detect AI-generated or low-quality posts and limit their appearance in content recommendations from outside a user’s network.

The platform will also begin privately notifying users in their dashboards when others perceive their posts as inauthentic due to heavy AI use. LinkedIn said the notifications are intended to help authors improve their writing when they use AI to refine original work rather than to generate entire posts. Separately, the company is retiring its existing “enhance your post” AI writing tool and replacing it with a proofreading feature designed to correct errors without altering the author’s voice.

Additional changes include expanded access to profile and page verification tools and a new option for users to block comments from company pages they no longer wish to see.
