X Product Chief Nikita Bier Steps Down After One Year
Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, is leaving the company after just over a year in the role, marking another leadership change at the social platform. Bier announced the decision in a post on X, saying he will remain involved as an advisor after stepping down from day-to-day responsibilities.
In his farewell message, Bier described leading product at X as “the privilege of a lifetime,” adding that managing the platform had become an around-the-clock responsibility and that it was time to take a break.
Bier joined X after building several successful consumer social apps and quickly became one of the company’s most visible executives. Over the past year, he regularly shared product updates, feature launches and development progress through his personal X account, often serving as the platform’s primary public voice on product changes.
During his tenure, X rolled out updates across core parts of the platform, including its timeline, Android app, notifications, onboarding process and messaging features. The company also introduced a range of new products and initiatives, including profile labels showing country of origin and additional measures aimed at reducing AI-generated bots and spam.
Bier also claimed the platform experienced significant growth in user engagement and downloads, stating that X had climbed substantially in the App Store rankings and continued to set usage records. Bier is widely credited with helping modernize several aspects of X’s product experience, particularly around creator monetization, recommendation systems and platform integrity.
The company has not yet announced a successor or provided additional details on its product leadership plans going forward.
