With online trends continuing to head towards mobile, but consumers feeling overloaded by the sheer quantity of apps out there, when they only regularly use a few, could app streaming be the future for mobile?

A new article on TechCrunch looks at the idea that, just as we stream music, TV and movies, we could also stream apps rather than having to download separate ones every time.

Google has dipped its toes into this world, launching Android Instant Apps, which lets users stream snippets of apps, so they can try them before downloading.

As Wally Nguyen, the CEO of mNectar says: “The concept of app streaming is relatively new, but has the potential to completely transform how we engage with mobile content and services, with downloads no longer acting as roadblocks to discovery and access.”
