Online dating fraud detection company Scamalytics have hired Dave Wiseman, formerly of iovation, as their VP of Sales.
Wiseman was the head of European sales at iovation, a provider of online and mobile fraud protection.
As iovation worked with online dating sites, Wiseman has previous experience of selling fraud solutions to the dating industry.
Scamalytics offer a scammer detection software thats runs a series of tests on a company’s database, including behavioural analysis of users, shared blacklists, pattern matching and image recognition.
This information is stored on an anti-fraud database, which is shared between their online dating clients.
Speaking to Global Dating Insights, Dan Winchester, co-founder of Scamalytics said:
“The more clients we bring into our network, the more powerful the “shared database” becomes. Our clients are effectively benefiting from the work done by each other’s moderators, which lowers the overall moderation overhead between them.”
Winchester said that Dave Wiseman will help their expansion into Europe and the US.
“Most UK dating companies are either existing clients or are currently trialling us, the next stage is to expand into Europe and the US, which is why we have brought Dave on board.
“He is initially targeting Europe to coincide with the forthcoming European iDate, then moving onto the US. He was VP of European sales at iovation, so he is experienced in opening up new geographical markets within the dating sector.”
Scamalytics now have a team of eight, on a mixture of full and part time.
Speaking about his new role, Wiseman said:
“With the growth in online crime, I am delighted to be able to help to close up the opportunities for these criminals.
“Scamalytics has the leading anti-fraud solution in the industry today and I am looking forward to helping grow the business.”
His former employer, iovation, are a Portland-based company with around 2,300 fraud managers, that represent global clients from industries such as retail, social networking, financial services and insurance.
Scamalytics’ current online dating clients include Cupid PLC, Dating Factory, Global Personals and Lovestruck, plus a few more that are trailing the system, amongst them some “very large players”, Winchester said.
Wiseman will be joining the rest of the Scamalytics team at next week’s iDate conference in Koln.
