A white label and industry heavyweight is returning to online dating to try and revolutionise one of the industry’s great untapped markets.

Ex-White Label Dating exec Matthew Pitt is announcing the launch of Olé Dating, his very own white label platform that aims to conquer the relatively underserved and emerging Spanish-speaking markets.

As Operations Director of White Label Dating for four years, Pitt was responsible for the expansion and revenue growth of all international businesses and markets.

His first solo venture sees Pitt realising a “long held belief” in the huge opportunity available in using the proven methodology, insights and experience gained from more developed dating markets, and tweaking it for the younger Spanish markets.

Global Dating Insights recently caught up with Matthew Pitt to talk about his new project, and asked why these markets were generally underserved.

Pitt said: “The leading white label providers understandably focused their business growth strategy on the more developed ecommerce markets like the UK, Germany, Australia and the US. This is because more developed ecommerce markets have higher dating site user acceptance, usage and payment propensity.

“That is where their growth originated from and where their revenue was, and still is. In such mature and developed markets, it is difficult for new entrants to offer something genuinely different and unique, to compete successfully with the established players.

“In contrast, Spanish speaking markets tend to be less developed in terms of ecommerce, with lower online dating usage and acceptance rates. So historically, yes they have been underserved, but for valid reasons.”

So Pitt, who this year relocated to northern Valencia in Spain, decided to launch the world’s only white label dating provider that focusses exclusively on these markets.

Olé Dating is primarily concerned with casual dating sites, working with “a wide range of partners, such as networks, affiliates and webmasters, from many different countries and nationalities.

“Partners range from those with prior online dating experience looking to expand into less competitive and more profitable markets, to those seeking to build an additional revenue stream by monetising their Spanish traffic,” he said.

Since launching in beta a few months ago, the platform has over 100 sites live – in markets including Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia, Argentina and Puerto Rico – with this number growing by around 20% a month, as the business welcomes new partners.

In terms of language, Olé Dating has a bilingual team that speaks both Spanish and English, allowing the company to work with a wide range of partners.

And with regards to mobile, the platform is fully responsive on desktop, mobile and tablet.

Speaking about apps, which many people see as one of the big issues for the future of white label platforms, Pitt said: “Having a fully responsive platform is a great place to start. It does not make you immune from the impact of the plethora of new apps out there, but these newer apps tend to be focused more on mainstream dating in developed markets and major conurbations, that are full of early adopters.

“Browser notifications have really advanced in terms of handling the engagement and conversion. Apps have done well with app store traffic, but driving downloads from regular media buying through other outlets is difficult.”

Another company that has recently announced a similar strategy to Olé Dating is eHarmony, who just launched a big push into Spanish language markets, with founder Dr. Neil Clark Warren saying that 35% of all their US customers already speak the language.

We asked Pitt about this development, who said it was a “logical step” for the LA-based company: “The US hispanic market is large and growing, so it makes sense to target this group if you are a dominant brand in the US looking to maintain its market share there, and to expand into Latin America.

“To be successful, however, they need to go beyond translation into Spanish and ensure the eHarmony profile questionnaire, upon which their whole brand is based, is culturally relevant to hispanics and hispanic culture.”

This is one of the key things Pitt focused on with Ol̩ Dating, ensuring its platform and partner sites connect with users by being culturally au fait Рone of the reasons he decided to solely focus on Spanish-speaking markets.

The team plans to continue to learn about the cultural intricacies of these different markets that are bound by a common language, as it pushes further into areas like Latin America over the coming year.

And for new partners, Pitt says their platform offers a massive opportunity, providing “a low cost point of entry for partners in more expensive and competitive markets to try something new.

“If you are looking to monetise your Spanish traffic or want to start your own branded online dating site targeting Spanish speaking markets, then contact OleDating.com. We’d love to welcome you as a partner.”
