A new Tinder-style dating app that aims to help plus-sized people find love is now available to download.
WooPlus is the latest dating app designed to create a “comfortable” dating platform for men and women of plus sizes to connect with potential matches.
Created by co-founders Neil Raman and Michelle Li, the specialised app is dedicated to providing a safe dating environment, free from negative attention and stigma that many plus size individuals have experienced on other dating platforms.
WooPlus works in a similar way to industry leader Tinder, allowing users to swipe right to express their interest in another user’s profile.
And if two users match, they are given 48 hours to message each other.
Speaking to PEOPLE about the app, Raman said: “Marginalisation of people with atypical bodies is still a sensitive social stigma for many people involved in online dating.
“My sister experienced this herself. It was very painful and unfair. I decided to solve this problem and create an app just for big girls.”
Raman also took inspiration from a social experiment published on YouTube two years ago, in which one woman used a fat suit to shock a number of Tinder dates.
Since its launch back in November, the app has acquired 10,000 users worldwide.
WooPlus is now available to download for iOS on the App Store.
