Brian Norgard Joins StockTwits’ Board of Directors
Former Chief Product Officer of Tinder Brian Norgard has joined the board of directors at a stock market social media company.
StockTwits is a space for traders to share tips or advice, and offers people who are new to the scene a chance to learn from more experienced investors.
Norgard is planning to help the already fast-growing company expand into new areas of media and optimise financial technology.
Speaking to Business Insider, he said: “My particular expertise is in consumer technology, and I am always looking at ways to make it more useful and simplify user experience.
“Fin-tech is an incredible white space for my particular skills because of all the dimensionality to it.
“The trading of an equity is maybe different from looking for a date, but the pattern of underlying mechanisms to keep the customers interested and give them access to information are not all that different.”
Norgard was highly influential during his time with Tinder and is credited as being the brain behind some of the app’s most successful features – such as Tinder Gold, Super Like and Top Picks.
He announced he was leaving Tinder in early November and, in a follow-up blog post, he revealed he was looking to invest in several California-based startups.
Norgard has already invested in Coinmine, a cryptocurrency mining device, and Secfi, a service that offers stock options advice to small companies that are planning to go public.
