CarpeDM Receives Funding From Venture Group

CarpeDM, the exclusive dating community for professional Black women, has received further funding from Virginia Venture Partners. The venture group is the investment wing of the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC).

The VIPC draws on funds provided by the U.S. Treasury Department State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Program.

Virginia Venture Partners first invested in CarpeDM in 2021, allowing it to launch its dating services in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. With this new investment, the dating company will look to acquire more users and increase operations.

CarpeDM is a members-only community that looks to help Black women find love. Beyond its app platform, users are assigned a personal matchmaker.

Potential matches are thoroughly screened before joining the dating pool. Every member of the CarpeDM community undergoes identity and criminal background checks, in addition to an interview process.

“Dating can be frustrating for everyone, with hours wasted swiping on low-quality matches, fake profiles, players, and time wasters. However, dating apps and their algorithms have failed to address the specific needs, desires, and demographic of black women,” said Naza Shelley, CEO, CarpeDM.

“Our goal is to help black women find a meaningful connection and less time searching on superficial dating apps. We are grateful to VIPC’s Virginia Venture Partners investment to help continue our growth and help women find love”, she continued.
