Droite au Coeur: France’s Right-Wing Dating App

Droite au Coeur is a new right-wing dating app for French “patriots”. The platform looks to connect individuals with similar values, culture, and passion for the country.

According to its website, Droite au Coeur is a dating platform for “patriotic singles” who will be “guardians and defenders of our civilizational wealth”. The platform was co-founded by Yohan Pawer, who is a right-wing influencer and content creator.

Euronews reports that when setting up a profile, users are required to disclose their ethnicity, family situation, and religion. Singles are also asked to pick out some political interests, including right-wing political parties in France.

Other questions asked to daters include their religious devotion, and their desire to have children.

The platform has already faced criticism from those concerned about extremism and hate. It was created to help “the preservation of identity”, says Cécile Simmons, a researcher at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD). The ISD is a think-tank that studies extremism and hate internationally.

“For me, it’s motivated by the desire to exclude,” Simmons told Euronews. “On the app, there’s a mention of having children. There’s the idea, implicitly, that people will meet and have white children”.

“It’s motivated by anxieties about racial replacement — it doesn’t mention things like the ‘Great Replacement’ conspiracy theory, but is completely steeped in that kind of fatalist anxiety”, Simmons added.

The founding of Droite au Coeur represents right-wing ideas becoming more mainstream in France, Simmons explained. The platform is a new way for right-wing ideologues to recruit new members and democratise their principles, she concluded.
