eharmony has published a video giving advice to users on how to take the best possible pictures for their online dating profile.
The short YouTube post listed some important dos and don’ts, as well as suggesting potential poses that would be appropriate for men and women.
It explains that selfies are acceptable as long as they are taken from the right angle. Rather than being taken from too high or too low, the ideal picture should be taken with the camera at forehead height.
However, the audience is told that pictures taken in a bathroom mirror should be avoided at all costs.
Pets often feature heavily in dating profiles to serve as a conversation starter. According to data from Tinder, the dog emoji was the third most used emoji by US users in 2018. eharmony says “pets can be cute”, but if they appear in photos they shouldn’t cover the person’s face.
Other pieces of key advice include no topless photos, no group shots and always smiling instead of pouting.
The online dating company partnered with Love Island star Laura Anderson at the start of 2019 to encourage singles not to give up in their quest for love. The holiday-themed promotion advertised eharmony as the “destination” for romance.
eharmony celebrated its 19th anniversary on 23rd August, and has reportedly found love for two million of its members since its inception.
