Facebook Launching Private Social Network App For Couples

Facebook’s ‘New Product Experimentation’ team launched a new smartphone app to help couples stay connected.

‘Tuned’ is designed for couples to create an intimate and private social network for just the two of them to share their mood, exchange music and create a digital scrapbook of memories.

The app is only available for iOS users in the US and Canada.

The couples application will link with Spotify to allow users to share music, as well as allowing couples to share photos, voice notes, and other communication methods.

It’s free to use and doesn’t require a Facebook account, although users are subject to Facebook’s data rules, meaning their information can be used for ad targeting.

Facebook regularly publicly experiments with new features and social networks, including a messaging app called ‘Threads’ and a meme creating app called ‘Whale’.

It’s new dating service was due to be launched in Europe in February, but that release date had to be postponed because private regulators accused the company of not adhering to GDPR laws.
