FDP Ventures Integrates LoveThing Following Acquisition
FDP Ventures is working to integrate LoveThing following an acquisition announced on the 6th of April.
Lovething was launched in 2015 by Martin Bysh & Marcus Hamilton, the co-founders of Smooch.com and MakeFriendsOnline.
The acquisition marks the start of FDP’s plan to accelerate growth rapidly in 2018.
Founder Tim Taylor says: “Our plan for 2018 and beyond is to develop our existing brands, create new specialist sites, and acquire or partner with existing dating industry companies.
“We are therefore delighted to have successfully acquired one of the UK’s premier free dating sites which fits perfectly in to our strategy”.
Taylor told GDI he is currently looking into the possibilities for further acquisitions, and encourages brands looking to grow or exit to get in touch.
LoveThing aims to provide free to message, secure dating for those seeking serious relationships in the UK.
The freemium site joins FreeAndSingle and FreeLocal.Singles as one of the 30+ flagship brands under the FDP umbrella, which now hosts close to 1 million users.
LoveThing users can either sign up manually, or via Facebook or LinkedIn. It uses third-party scam detection and 24-hour monitoring to spot any unusual behaviour, combining this with human moderation to ensure all users have the best experience possible.
It also features a “beautiful artificial intelligence system that learns from your behaviour on the site, figuring out who you might like and who might like you.”
The tech platform is geared towards finding users the right kinds of messages from the right people, rather than spamming them with lots of mail.
The LoveThing blog runs posts such as “12 LoveThing Gifts For Christmas” and “Write a winning dating profile”.
