GDI Meets Thriving UK Dating Startup & Dragons’ Den Success Double
In a market as competitive & fast-paced as online dating, it can be difficult for new startups to cut through the noise and rise above the competition to make a mark.
This is something British startup Double has been able to do over the past year, its niche double dating mobile proposition gaining excellent traction, growth and press attention.
In the latest episode of our GDI Meets series – filmed by Eddie Bolger – we met up with Double in its central London co-working space to chat about the startup’s busy year.
Last year, Double’s three founders – Loren Gould, Gary MacDonough and Ben Greenock – were accepted onto BBC entrepreneurial show Dragons’ Den to pitch their double dating app, winning £75,000 funding from investor and entrepreneur Nick Jenkins.
The episode aired back in January, and we recently spoke to the young founders about the “gruelling” process, and how the appearance has helped to further push the app’s growth – the mobile platform hitting 25,000 MAUs and seeing an 18% week-on-week growth.
