A new tool from Google lets publishers check whether a site’s ads are intrusive.
Called the Ad Experience Report, the tool measures if a website’s adverts violate the Better Ads Standards, a set of guidelines for advertising on desktop and mobile web.
Created by the Coalition for Better Ads, the guide identifies the kinds of ads that hamper the user experience on mobile and desktop.
And Google’s new Ad Experience Report will help publishers check whether their sites have any ads that breach the rules, as well as identifying any issues to fix.
The tool provides “screenshots and videos of annoying ad experiences we’ve identified to make it easy to find and fix the issues.”
To check a site that has been verified on Search Console, owners can visit this link.
The move comes after Google announced that from early 2018, Google Chrome will automatically block ads that violate the Better Ads Standards.
Google said: “We believe these changes will ensure all content creators, big and small, can continue to have a sustainable way to fund their work with online advertising.”
