Lola: New Dating App to Launch in Boston
Lola is a new dating app that is set to launch in Boston in the coming weeks, with over 3,000 singles on its waitlist already. Among the platform’s creators is Paul English, who co-founded successful travel company KAYAK.
The dating platform looks to set itself apart by getting daters on IRL meetups as soon as possible. Users are encouraged to highlight which day of the week they’re available to meet, and will be paired with similarly-available singles who match their preferences.
In addition to this system of matching, Lola also provides a unique feature for rating dates and receiving anonymous feedback, its creators shared in an interview with Boston.com.
After a date, if a user rates their match as one star out of five, they’ll be prompted to explain why a low rating was given. If enough of these low ratings are collected for similar reasons, the platform will look into it.
Furthermore if a rating of two stars out of five is given for example, users will be asked to share the positives and the negatives of the person they’ve just met on the date. After 5 dates, users will receive this collated feedback in an anonymous report.
Over 3,000 singles are on the platform’s waitlist, and it is set to officially launch in Boston soon. It will initially operate within a 75 mile radius of Boston, with plans to expand into other major American cities in the future.
